Abstract: It is not a long time that the palaces and mansions of kings have turned into museums; and the rugs and carpets that were their decorative Royal Carpets are now regarded as precious museum properties. But unfortunately necessary care is not considered to them while all these carpets have a lot of memories and mysteries about people who made and use them during history. These carpets remind us of all carpet technique such as spinning, weaving, dying, designing, coloration, etc. In this research, first of all the techniques used in making carpets are briefly discussed, and damages happened to these carpets are identified in the theoretical section. The practical section is about the technology and pathology of a brocaded silk carpet dating back to Safavid era that is a sample of Golden Era of Iranian art. It is an introduction to Safavid history and a historical comparison to the similar samples of that time. Finally, conservation and restoration plan about carpets are discussed…..
