Abstract: Enamelwork is a way to decorate the metal works which is result of melting glass powder on metal field. This art has been prevalent since Sassanian era up to now in our country and the peak of its dehiscence was in Qajar era. Takhte-e-Khorshid (or peacock’s throne) is one of the masterpieces of enamelwork of this era. The object of this thesis is technology, pathology and conservation proposal plan on enameling of Takht-e Khorshid (Sun Throne). As there was no complete research done in the field of protection of enamel works and specially this valuable work, we tried to take some actions towards knowledge, protect and keep this enamelwork treasure. The main aim of this research is recognizing the enamel structure; some techniques have been used and recognizing the received damages on enamels of Takht-e Khorshid and adopting a proper method are for the protection of it. The methods of compiling information in the descriptive field were through using library resources and in the experimental field were in the way of practical work in Takht-e Khorshid; methods of automatic analysis and metallographic were used to prove or disprove the theories in exact and scientific achiving. In this research, four theories were tested and studied and the following results were found: 1- The durability of enamelwork depends on the execution technique and also to the enamel components and the temperature in which it is baked. 2- The received damages on support enamel prepare the way to make damages on decorative enamel layer. 3- The main factor of making crack in the turquoise colored enamel layer used in enamel decorations of Takht-e Khorshid is arisen from the internal structure of enamel. 4- Settlement of metal and glass components together in making enamel have been resulted in a new set of damages are made.
